Fourth graders at Northside Elementary School of the Arts recently enjoyed an artist residency week with cartoonist, Dave McDonald. McDonald’s professional background includes working as a TV producer/director and writing scripted entertainment for theme parks internationally. He’s written and illustrated a couple of humorous graphic novels for young readers that make connections to educational content. How exciting that these students have the opportunity to discover that they can be successful at creating their own original character and making their very own comics. This arts integrated experience was made possible through ABC Grant funding. The Arts Matter and the Arts Make a Difference!
