East Point Academy (EPA) is South Carolina’s first Mandarin language immersion public charter school and a member of the SC Public Charter School District. The mission of East Point Academy Fine Arts is to provide standards-based visual art, dance, music, theatre and media arts classes to stimulate the creativity and sensitivity of all students. Located in West Columbia, EPA began in 2011 with approximately 120 students. EPA currently serves 520 racially and economically diverse primary, elementary and middle school students. Student attendance is representative of several midlands counties. EPA was considered a Title I school for the 2016-2017 school year. Students participate in art, music, dance and theatre classes taught in Mandarin Chinese by distinctly qualified artist-educators. Students succeed in the classroom and society through personalized learning, small classes, civic engagement, cultural and social awareness activities, and a robust arts program. After school arts programs include chorus, Chinese dance, private music lessons on multiple instruments, theatre club, media club, and an art club. EPA is proud to be newly recognized as an ABC site school, as well as a Distinguished Arts Program grant recipient for the 2017-2018 school year.
