The Lower Richland High’s School mission is to provide students the opportunity to explore, respond, discover, and create in and through a quality arts education. Lower Richland High School is located in a vast region that spans urban, suburban and rural areas in Richland County School District One. It serves 1181 students with 88% of students on reduced/free lunch and 201 are of special population. LRH is an AdvancEd STEM school. Current Fine Arts offerings include, Dance, IB Dance, Theatre, IB Film, Orchestra, Strings, Guitar, Music Foundations, Beginners Choir, Honors Choir, Piano 1&2, Art Foundation, Photography, Honors Visual Art, Beginners Band, Jazz Ensemble, Concert Band and Marching Band. Since becoming a STEM school Lower Richland High is in the progress of becoming a STEAM school. Several arts and non-arts teachers have been involved with arts integration workshops and professional development. The Richland One school district offers gifted and talented programs for Dance and Theatre. Three of LRH’s arts teachers have been awarded the Colonial Life Grant, the Theatre Teacher was awarded the WLTX Teacher of the Week Award, and the Dance teacher was named Dance Educator of the Year during the 2013-2014 school year.
