McDonald Green Elementary School is an Arts Integrated neighborhood K-5 school in rural Lancaster, SC, whose teachers incorporate visual arts, drama, music, and dance into their weekly curriculum to bring learning to life, ensure permanency of knowledge, and appeal to multiple learning styles. The mission of McDonald Green is the development of independent learners and responsible citizens who value diversity and the arts. An arts supply closet, a set of theatre props and scripts, an interactive garden space with farm animals and art installations, electronic pianos, and regular arts integration professional development are available to all teachers to provide the needed materials and skills for creative lessons. Students have the opportunity to be involved in several district arts events and display their work in downtown Lancaster. These events span from art competitions, Honors Choir, the Banner Project, designing art future town installations with a professional artist, to an art show.
