The Arts Integration for Secondary Educators (AISE) Institute (a program of Arts in Basic Curriculum) is a year-long professional development series designed to support secondary educators who endeavor to integrate the arts into their classroom curriculum. Developed under the guidance and direction of The Center for Children and Youth (at University of Arkansas), ARTeacher Fellowship Program, AISE is funded by Arts Grow SC to empower learning in and through the arts as part of South Carolina’s strategic approach to learning recovery in response to COVID-19.

Up to 20 educators from grades 7-12 will be selected to participate. Educators with three or more years experience in English, social studies, science and foreign language and an interest in high-quality arts integration strategies are encouraged to apply.

The series begins with a three-day intensive and continues four full day workshops throughout the year (twice a semester). Participants will receive expert training from ARTeacher Fellows and nationally recognized teaching artists and receive supplies and materials for implementation. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will earn non-degree graduate course credit and will be eligible to continue for a second year.

The AISE Institute will kick off on July 25-27, 2022 and continue Oct 10-11 in conjunction with the Palmetto State Arts Education conference (both in Columbia). Additional sessions will be determined in consideration of participating teachers. All accommodations (lodging and meals) are provided.
