The mission of the arts education at Andrew Jackson High School, in collaboration with home and community, is to provide a standards based and academically rigorous educational environment in which students can explore, discover, express, create, and succeed through the arts. AJHS has 46 certified teachers and 633 students in grades 9-12. The ethnicity is comprised of 74% Caucasian, 20% African American, 2% Hispanic, 2% with 2 or more races, and 1% American Indian. 100% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch. AJHS is a rural neighborhood school that is located at the southern end of Lancaster County and is an Arts Focus High School. Students from the entire county are encouraged to audition for acceptance for a specific arts area. Andrew Jackson High is a continued Distinguish Arts Program Grant recipient with the following current offerings: dance, theatre, chorus, band, visual arts, and piano. In the 2020-2021 school year, 110 students are enrolled in the arts focus program which is 17% of the school population. Our Arts Focus Program is what truly makes AJ unique!
