Cyril B. Busbee Creative Arts Academy is nestled in the suburbs of Cayce, located within the boundaries of Lexington School District Two. With approximately 445 students and 51 staff members, “The Academy” prides itself in knowing and serving students’ individual needs. The mission of Cyril B. Busbee Creative Arts Academy is to create learning opportunities where students grow in confidence and a sense of belonging through diverse programs in academics, arts, technology, and athletics. In the sixth grade, students have the opportunity to explore all of the art classes, such as art, band, chorus, dance, drama, and strings before narrowing down their art focus in the following years. In the seventh and eighth grade, students have the opportunity to audition for the Performing Arts Company, which combines the chorus, dance and drama majors into one comprehensive performing arts ensemble. The school’s arts mission is to provide a quality education through arts advocacy, standards-based arts instruction, and integration of the arts. Due to the school’s emphasis on the arts and arts integration, Cyril B. Busbee was named a National School to Watch in the spring of 2021.
