The mission of the School District of Fairfield County’s Visual and Performing Arts program is to provide quality, sequential, comprehensive arts education for all students. The district is in a rural setting with neighborhood schools with 3,172 students enrolled in CD3-12th grade courses. 87.2% receive free or reduced lunch. There are 5 elementary schools, 1 middle, and 1 high school. The district offers choral and instrumental music including orchestra, dance, theatre and visual art. There is an arts integration model in place at Fairfield Magnet School for Math and Science and arts-centered model at Kelly Miller Elementary School. The district’s Artistically Gifted and Talented program serves students in the elementary grades 3-5 in a summer model. Upper level gifted students are served through advanced classes at the middle and high school levels. The Fairfield County School District has been awarded a Distinguished Arts Program grant for 6 years.
