Mission statement: The mission of League Academy of Communication Arts is to prepare students to become lifelong learners and contributing members of society through rigorous, arts-focused, standards-based instruction.
Arts Mission Statement: League Academy will provide high-quality, equitable arts experiences for all students in collaboration with the academic classrooms, home, and community.
League Academy is a suburban neighborhood/magnet school that serves 789 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Forty-two percent of these students are eligible for free or reduced lunches.
We are an Arts Integrated school that offers students both beginning and advance classes in Visual Arts, Drama, Band, Creative Writing, Dance, Strings, Chorus, and Graphic Design. Students can also take advantage of our districts Arts Reaching Middle and Elementary Schools (ARMES) after school program. To bring Arts into the every classroom many of our teachers participate in the SMARTARTS program through Greenville’s Metropolitan Arts Council which not only provides a summer training session on integrating arts into the regular classroom, but provides an artist to work for 8 days in the participating teacher’s classroom. We also partner with the Peace Center for the Performing Arts to bring both arts integration professional development and artists in residence.
This is our first year as an ABC grant recipient site. Other awards and grants we’ve received are:
