New Prospect Elementary is a rural neighborhood Title One school nestled in the foothills of the Upstate. At N.P.E. community and staff are committed to providing exemplary instruction and experiences to ensure students to become lifelong learners equipped for success. The Arts Mission of the school is to maximize student potential through the deliverance of a quality, student-centered arts education. One Community, One Purpose, Every Child. The school currently serves 407 students in grades 4K-6th grade. Free and reduced lunch is served to 52% of the school population. General music and visual art are offered to all students while 6th grade students have access to band and strings course offerings. Dance is an auditioned program for grades 2-6 at N.P.E. Several extracurricular activities to engage with the arts are also available such as Honors Chorus, Studio Art, and Theatre clubs. New Prospect is a 2015 Exemplary Reading School and a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School. In 2015 the school was awarded Palmetto Gold, received a First Tee Grant and the NSPRA Golden Achievement Awards. In 2014 the school received the Healthy School Project Grant. The school has also been a recurring DAP Grant recipient. The ABC grant has provided New Prospect with opportunities for using creative arts strategies throughout the school by having students experience formal arts performances, artist in residency programs, arts integration training for faculty members, and integrated activities in every classroom that include music, visual art, drama, and movement. The school also boasts a strong community partnership through the Greater Spartanburg Arts Council, generous PTO support, and possesses a strong ABC Steering Committee.
