The mission of White Knoll Middle School is to provide a nurturing and challenging environment through the arts disciplines that encourages students to create, collaborate, communicate, and think critically. Situated in the heart of Lexington County, White Knoll Middle School, in Lexington School District One, serves 776 in grades 6-8 students from Lexington and West Columbia, a mainly suburban area. With 32% minority population, and 52% free and reduced lunch, WKMS is diverse culturally, as well as socioeconomically. As an arts infused school, White Knoll is proud to offer Band, Chorus, Dance, Music and Technology, Orchestra, Theatre, and Visual Arts and looks forward to bringing more Creative Writing opportunities to students. The after school theatre program is where main stage productions are born and the district gifted and talented visual arts class held at White Knoll, serve students throughout the district. The entire faculty is looking for new ways to allow students to create and perform to enhance their learning not only in the art areas, but also in the content areas as well, as they strive together to become a school known for blended learning and arts achievement.
